Two families are coming together to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice by taking part in this year’s Santa Sprint in Southport.
The team of 14 are running in memory of Jan Reed’s husband Nick, and their close friend Barbara who were both cared for by the hospice.
Taking part alongside Jan is her daughter Fiona, Aidan, Evie (and Milly (6), her son Will and his fiancée Nadine. Barbara’s husband Brian, son Graeme with Jo, Harry (13) and Noah (7), along with Barbara’s twin sister Anne and nephew Philip.
The Santa Sprint starts and ends outside Silcock’s Funland on the Promenade, with places still available for people to sign up.
Jan said: “Queenscourt holds a very special place in our hearts for their care which lit up our darkest days.
“This is my family’s fourth Santa Sprint – and we are looking forward to supporting Barbara’s family as it’s their first time taking part.”
The family has fundraised for Queenscourt before, both as individuals as well as a team, at events such as Grosvenor Jazz, which Brian and Nick and friends created, and by raising money through raffles with their friends and family.
Jan said: “I would recommend the Santa Sprint to anyone – there is always such a great atmosphere on the day. You can have festive fun whilst supporting the outstanding work of Queenscourt Hospice.”
This year’s Santa Sprint for Queenscourt Hospice is once again sponsored by Southport family-run firm Silcock’s.
Anyone taking part is welcome to enjoy a free ride on the Silcock’s Carousel and to enjoy a free hot drink from Silcock’s Funland, while bacon or sausage barns will be available for just £1 each.
If you would like to sign up for Santa Sprint, which is taking place next Sunday, 11 December 2022, please visit www.queenscourt.org.uk/santasprint or call the Fundraising Team on 01704 517420.

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and
tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot drop, just so she
can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has
83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
