Town Deal presents an opportunity for Southport to secure millions of pounds of Government investment. 

Southport was one of 100 places chosen to apply for funding through the £3.6 billion Towns Fund.

In 2020 thousands of local people gave their views on the changes they most wanted to see in their town. 

Specific criteria were set for any applications, which had to demonstrate that they could boost growth through innovative regeneration plans with a focus on improved transport, broadband connectivity, skills and culture..

The Southport Town Deal board submitted proposals worth £50million to the Government on 31 October 2020.

£1million in Acceleration Grant funding has initially been provided. This includes £900,000 towards the transformation of Southport Market into a new food, drink and events venue and £100,000 in match funding towards the Southport BID project to provide new decorative lighting along Lord Street. 

Stand Up For Southport was involved in the Southport Town Deal consultation process.
