A Southport entrepreneur, who built her business from the ground up, is joining forces with a local charity to help people in need in our community. a

Jennifer Scholes, pictured, is the founder and director of the Hart Space, in the Norwood Business Park on Hart Street in Southport.

She is now working to help Compassion Acts, which is the charitable organisation of Southport churches which work together to help those in crisis, operating services including Southport Foodbank.

She said: “I was shocked at how many people are being left with greatly reduced wages, or no job at all, as an effect of this horrible pandemic.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to be in the position that, after being able to adhere to stringent Covid restrictions, we have been able to keep the Hart Space open for the use of our community, especially those seeking support through pregnancy and parenthood.

“I know many other businesses have not been as fortunate, through no fault of their own.

“I can only imagine the stress of those workers trying to provide for their families in the run up to Christmas.”

Jenni, who is normally found running pregnancy relaxation classes, empowerment workshops and baby massage sessions, has volunteered to have a collection basket, within the building which is open from 8.45am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

People can donate dry goods for the use of local families who are finding themselves in difficulty.

Jenni said: “We understand that there is a particular need for toiletries, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food items.

“Any help with these items will be hugely appreciated.”
