An award-winning restaurant in Southport town centre is excited to open its second venue due to huge demand from customers.

The Great Himalayas restaurant and bar  at 665 Lord Street celebrated its fourth birthday on 4th March.

Now it is looking forward to opening its brand new venture – The Royal Himalayas Nepalese Restaurant and Bar – on the site of the former Pasha restaurant on Eastbank Street in Southport town centre.

The Great Himalayas was recently recognised as being one of the very best Nepalese restaurants in the UK.

The popular eatery was Highly Commended in the National Curry Awards which celebrate the talents of businesses in the nation’s curry industry.

Owner Prakash Shahi said: “We have been growing our team, working seven days a week and perfecting 665 Lord Street as much as we possibly could and now we feel it’s time to open a second location!

“Soon we will be opening our doors at 133-135 Eastbank Street, Southport, PR8 1DQ.

“We are so excited to see where this new challenge takes us

“Four years ago this month, we opened our doors for the very first time.

“During these crazy four short years, we battled our way through a global pandemic, just two weeks after opening.

“We’ve grown our team to triple the size we started with.

“And now we have got the keys and will be opening the doors to our second restaurant very soon.

“We’ve loved building bonds with the community, the relationships we have with our customers are beyond special and we will always hold them in a special place in our hearts.

“We can’t say it enough, but will continue to do so. We thank you all for giving us the space, confidence and support over these four years.”

The Great Himalayas has received numerous accolades, including a TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award, a nomination for the Your Southport Stars Awards, the First Nations Curry Award, and the English Curry Award. Celebrities such as Liverpool FC legend Steven Gerrard have been spotted dining there.
