The Fig Bistro on Eastbank Street in Southport

A unique Southport restaurant which gives diners a taste of Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa is seeking new owners.

The Fig Bistro is highly rated by diners, with reviewers on TripAdvisor judging it to be the fifth best out of 214 restaurants in Southport.

The venue on Eastbank Street, in Southport town centre, is renowned for its top quality home cooking and street food dishes, as well as its tasty range of vegan and vegetarian options.

Janine Madi and her family took over The Fig Bistro five years ago this month. They maintained the Middle Eastern flavours the venue had been famous for while it traded as the Alamir Lebanese restaurant since 1990.

Janine said: “Due to a sudden illness in the family it is with great sadness that we have to temporarily close our doors.

”It is heartbreaking for our family to let a thriving business go.

“Southport was introduced to Middle Eastern cuisine more than 25 years ago at this very location – it would be a shame to see it disappear!”

The family were delighted to launch The Fig Bistro in September 2015.

They brought to Southport authentic and tasty, home-cooked style recipes, with fresh and new tastes from Egypt, North Africa and the Middle East.

The small independent family business invited diners to call in and sample new and exciting dishes, especially Egyptian street food, with a warm and welcoming ambience.

Janine said: “I will teach you all you need to know to cook my recipes and help you put together an exciting menu. I will mentor you until you can fly solo.

“I am giving the right person a great chance to buy a thriving town centre business for a reasonable price.”
