The Grand in Southport has established itself as the premier conference destination in the area.

Owners Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group (MHALG) have invested in brand new conference facilities, with the first bookings already having been confirmed.

The Grand was opened in July 2022 and has already seen a £4 million investment, with The Grand Brasserie and Chloe’s Piano Bar on the ground floor and The Princess Grace Suite on the first floor. Harry’s Bar and the Sky Bar are due to open later this year.

The former Grand Casino building is one of the grandest buildings on Lord Street and celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group Chairman Andrew Mikhail said: “There has been a real need for top class conference facilities in Southport for some time, especially since the closure of the former Southport Theatre and Convention Centre in 2020. The opening of the new Marine Lake Events Centre is still some years away.

“Local businesses and other organisations have been asking us recently if conference facilities are something we are able to provide.

“We have invested a significant amount in providing everything they needed in our Princess Grace Suite.

“We now have facilities including two projector screens on either side of the room, a PA system, and other equipment.

“The room can be split if needed for a meeting or a conference from anything from 10 guests up to 325 guests, with 250 people seated.

“The Grand already has a top quality kitchen, brasserie and bar on the ground floor while the Princess Grace Suite is the best events venue and function room in town.

“For people attending conferences, we can provide services including lunches, teas, buffets, coffee, cake, anything that people need.

“We can also offer good quality hotel accommodation through our adjacent sister site The Lord Street Hotel while our Bold Hotel is directly opposite.

“We have had bookings being made already. Later this year, a company has booked The Grand for a conference for four days, with delegates flying in from all over the world.
