The new Crave Pizza eatery in Southport is growing in popularity after opening earlier this summer, as it looks to expand its offering to customers.

The innovative venue, which sells three different types of pizza by the slice, is now kene to extend its opening hours, host live music sessions and work with nearby local businesses to offer more for people to enjoy.

It has even become a popular venue for guests to meet up before or after their weddings at the nearby Southport Town Hall, a place for birthday parties and a spot for businesses to reward staff and host events.

Crave Pizza opened in the former Remedy building in the Town Hall Gardens in Southport in July with customers able to either sit inside or enjoy the sunshine on the tables outside, in the perfect place for watching the world go by along Lord Street.

Owners Matt Gregson and Rosie Blackburn were inspired to open Crave Pizza after being wowed by seeing pizza joints in the US thriving by offering pizza by the slice.

They’ve brought back a passion for New York, Chicago and Detroit style pizzas, offering something new and exciting for Southport.

They said: “Our idea behind opening Crave Pizza is really simple.

“You come in and you pick, point and pay.

“It’s really quick, good quality and easy food to eat.

“We have 11 different types of pizza, so there is lots of choice for everyone.

“As well as New York style pizza, we also have Chicago and Detroit syles, which are new to town – people have been enjoying trying them out!

“We are very different to what anyone else in town is doing.

“It’s really relaxed here too, being able to order from the counter and then sit back and enjoy, either inside or outside.

“We want people who are in town to be able to just pop in and grab something quickly. It’s perfect for anyone on a lunch break, someone out shopping, people out with friends, groups enjoying a night out.

“We have some great offers on at the moment. We have two slices of New York pizza for just £5 available all day from Monday to Friday.

“Customers can also enjoy our happy hour offers of a slice of pizza and a drink for £5 from 2pm to 3pm and between 7pm and 8pm.

“People can have soft drinks, wine, bottled beers, ciders, and we’re looking to be able to offer hot drinks soon.

“We have just been awarded our 5 star food hygiene rating which we are really pleased with.

“We need to shout about what we offer here now!

“With Crave and Pavilion, our other venue in the Town Hall Gardens, we have two of the most prominent food venues in Southport. They couldn’t be in a better location!

“It is an amazing place to be.

“It’s the best place in town for people watching, right next to the centre of Lord Street.

“Things have been going really well since we opened. We have got some regulars coming in now, who keep coming back.

“At the moment our opening hours are 12pm to 8pm Wednesday to Sunday, which we’re looking to extend. We’re keen to start opening seven days a week and the next step is to open until 11pm so people who are enjoying a night out in Southport can call in for a slice or two of pizza.

“It’s the tastiest ‘fast food’ out there, which is operating as a local independent business rather than a big chain.

“We are in talks about collaborating with other local businesses too at the moment – watch this space, we’re hoping to share some more news on that soon!

“We are also developing plans for hosting live music.

“It’s a place for events and birthday parties, whether it’s for kids or adults.

“We have had a couple of local businesses host their functions here, it’s a lovely place for rewarding staff.

“Being next to Southport Town Hall we are also seeing wedding guests coming in here for pre-wedding meet-ups!”

The couple are excited to see all the new investment coming into Southport and are excited about the future for the town.

They said: “It has been fantastic to see work starting on building the new £73 million Marine Lake Events Centre, and we’re looking forward to seeing work starting on the new Southport Enterprise Arcade near to where we are, soon.

“With all this investment coming into town, we hope it is going to bring more and more people to come to Southport.”
