Mavericks Bar is set to take off during Southport Air Show weekend!
The Top Gun themed bar on Lord Street in Southport town centre is the perfect place for air show aficionados to enjoy the fun on Saturday, 9th September and Sunday, 10th September 2023.
Mavericks staff have created a range of special Southport Air Show cocktails for the weekend with names including Red Arrows, Typhoon, Firefly, Hurricane and Smoke Bomb that will take your breath away.
They will be getting into the Air Show spirit too as they wear flying suits while serving customers from behind the bar!
All the hit songs from the Top Gun and Maverick movies will be playing, while visitors will be able to choose their own tunes on the bar’s famous Wurlitzer jukebox.
There will be food available with Mavericks’ famous pizzas, paninis and nachos,.which people can either eat at the venue or take away to eat at the show – or on their way home.
Mavericks Manager Mike Hayes said: “This will be the first Southport Air Show we’ve had since the bar opened in May! We are really looking forward to it.
“Air Show weekend in Southport is always really good! Hopefully the town will be nice and busy again.
“The event brings tens of thousands of visitors into our town.

“Our bar is famous for our cocktails which we already have themed around the Top Gun movie, such as Danger Zone, Wingman and Turn ‘n’ Burn.
“We have enjoyed creating some special cocktails specially for the Southport Air Show weekend.
“We have the Red Arrows cocktail, which is grenadine, peach schnapps and Blue Curacao.
“Typhoon is pink gin, strawberry Malibu, fresh mint, topped with lemonade and a drizzle of Grenadine.
“Hurricane is Frangelico and Baileys.
“Smoke Bomb is Grenadine, vodka and Baileys.
“Firefly is Blue Curacao, vodka and Cherry Sourz topped with lemonade.
“The cocktails will be the same price as our others, two for £14 or £8 each.
“And if a cocktail’s not for you, you can enjoy pocket friendly pints from £2.95.

“We will be serving food all weekend including our straight up or chili hot dogs.
“We do takeaway boxes too, so people can call in before the show and take food in with them, or they can enjoy something to eat on their way home.
“We have managed to borrow some flight suits so staff will be wearing them on the Saturday and Sunday.
“We would love to see other people dressing up in an air show or Top Gun theme too!
“There is nowhere better for people to come and enjoy themselves during the Southport Air Show weekend than Mavericks, either during the day, on their way to the event, or afterwards.
“The roads are always very busy once the event has finished each day, so it makes sense for people to take their time and come and sit back and enjoy something to eat and drink at Mavericks rather than sitting in traffic. We have lots of seating inside and outside.
“We’d love to see everyone come down and have a great weekend with us.”
