Southport Pleasureland has ended its 2020 Summer season early as Covid-19 cases in Merseyside and across the UK continue to rise.
But people can look forward to some exciting new plans at the attraction this November and December, including a new Day of the Dead special night.
Additional Coronavirus lockdown measures come into force in the Merseyside area this week.
Cases in Sefton have risen from a rate of 53.9 cases per 100,000 (149 new cases) to 93.3.3 (258 new cases) in the seven days to September 18.
It means that this weekend’s planned Emergency Services Day and this October’s Halloween plans have been postponed until next year.
The park reopened this Summer with a series of strict social distancing and other Covid safe measures in place after voluntarily closing in March as the pandemic arrived in the UK.
Southport Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis said: “In light of the ever changing circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve taken the decision to bring the Summer season to an end now, meaning our final Emergency Services Day including Blue Light Card holders and carers will unfortunately be postponed until a later date. Everyone who was booked on for this weekend has been emailed and given a full refund.
“We had originally planned to be open throughout October, including a special Halloween fortnight but we feel that delaying our reopening is the right thing to do.
“The safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance to us and we feel by delaying our opening we can regroup and focus on exciting times in November and December.
“We will be opening for the winter season, starting with our Day of the Dead special night on the 14th November, for which tickets are available on our website now.
“We will then focus on providing spectacular and safe, family entertainment in the run up to Christmas! We will be revealing more about this soon.
“On behalf of the whole Pleasureland team, thank you so much for the support since we reopened and we cannot wait to welcome you back on the 14th November.”
