A Southport author is celebrating the official launch of his new book this weekend!

Sean Connolly will be unveiling a children’s book – Monkarrot, described as ‘a journey of intrigue, happiness and adventure’.

It has been published in time for Christmas and is available on Amazon as a paperback or e-book.

Sean will be signing copies of his new book and chatting with fans at the official launch at the Write Blend bookshop, 124 South Road, Waterloo, Liverpool L22 0ND from 2pm this Saturday (2nd December 2023).

Sean has published several books in his career, some of them based on his career in the British Army.

His latest book, which is illustrated by Lisa Williams, is aimed at children.

It tells the story of Monkarrot, who loves nothing more than to help children when they need him most.

He is the most magical creature in the world… but not our world. He comes from the planet Imagination’.

It was a chance encounter in Mango Mews’ when Monkarrot met Emma and her brother Tom. What happened at `Pineapple Park’ was the beginning of the magical journey they were all about to take. A journey of intrigue, happiness, and adventure.

This book is dedicated to all our children who thought we were writing about them. The same kids who dream of greater things. Remember, imagination is the beginning of creation. Dream big, aim high.

It is particularly dedicated to Daniel Connolly, Sienna Aldred, Conor Wright, Ronnie Wright, Kai Ryan Walsh Soldier and Sas.

Author Sean Connolly was born in the Lancashire city of Preston in 1961 (when it was still a town). He was born before the characters came to life in this book and will certainly die before they do.

After leaving the army he moved back to Southport and started writing poetry about animals and fantasy characters. His dream is to connect with the same little people as the ones in this book.

He has seen the Northern Lights while lying on a metre of snow on the Canadian Prairie and his bucket list includes spending time dreaming of his next superhero while flying on a very fast jet to Australia.

After Monkarrot, Sean is contemplating his next project.
