Ghostforge UK has created rainbow signs for children with £5 of every £7 received donated to the NHS

A Southport man who started a new business just before Christmas is raising money to help the NHS.

Matthew Blundell is crafting specially designed rainbows from MDF that are personalised with a child’s name.

The designs are made from MDF and are 10 inches in length with £5 from each sale being donated to the NHS.

Matthew said: “I recently started a new business, Ghostforge UK, making laser engraved goods  such as pictures, boxes etc. I purchased a Glowforge machine which makes so many things.

“I had an idea to make Rainbows that are personalised with a child’s name and they can colour them in and display them.

“I’m selling them at £7 each and from each sale I’m donating £5 to the NHS for continued efforts to help during this coronavirus pandemic.”

Matthew started his business after suffering personal tragedy in his life. Starting his new venture was a great way of bouncing back.

He said: “I started the business just before Christmas after saving up to buy the machine.

“I started working for myself after losing two jobs a few years back after suffering from depression from losing my Grandfather to cancer and whilst struggling with work to support him and my family.

“I had read about Glowforge online and for years had looked at projects that could be made. I have some skills in Graphic Design and thought that this could be the best way to put my skills to use.

“The business aims is to create art and personalised gifts. The machine is capable of cutting and engraving many kinds of materials from wood, plastic and will etch some glass

“I am just starting to put it to use after exploring the capabilities and leading associated programmes and came up with the idea for making rainbows for children to color in after seeing the many pictures and paintings already spread throughout homes in Southport.

“I thought making these designs would help support the NHS, give children something to occupy their minds and when the pandemic is over they can keep them as a memory of the support and love from all people at this time.”
