Following a hugely successful Pride march and celebration in July, Sefton Pride CIC is hosting a networking event this Sunday (15th October 2023).

Organisations and traders from across the borough who want to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community will be setting up stalls in the Southport Market Events Space.

The event will run between 1pm and 4pm and is free to attend, although any donations to Sefton Pride CIC are welcome and will support future events and a Pride month event in 2024.  It is a family friendly, drop-in event open to all members of the community and allies.

Here is a run down of some of the attendees on the day:

Representatives from the Crown Prosecution Service will be on hand to give you information about career opportunities as well as support for victims of crime.

In the same vein, representatives from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office will be promoting Stop Hate UK ahead of Hate Crime Awareness week.

Brighter Living Partnership will also be in attendance.  It is a wellbeing charity aimed at providing healthy lifestyle information, reducing health inequalities and promoting social inclusion.  It is sharing a stall with Living Well Sefton which aims to support all residents of Sefton in improving their wellbeing.

Sahir House provides vital frontline services to communities in the Liverpool and Merseyside area including sexual health services and LGBTQ+ support services.  They marched at Sefton Pride and will be at this event to share their services.

Rebecca Kenny from Bent Key Publishing will also be in attendance – you can speak to her about how Bent Key amplifies marginalised voices and buy some of the beautiful books from her – she will also be selling books from a Southport-based publisher, The Broken Spine on behalf of local poet and lecturer Alan Parry.  Rebecca and Alan both performed at Sefton Pride and their powerful words were very moving.

There will also be opportunities to meet and talk with more creatives.

Kate Worthington is a make-up artist with a dressing service who especially caters for trans women and girls.

Rebecca Christian makes and sells prints and cards and caters for all communities.
