What's On at The Atkinson in Southport with Sefton Open, Tea Dance, Count Arthur Strong and more

There is lots more to enjoy at The Atkinson in Southport this week.

Staff have been working exceptionally hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for the 2024 Sefton Open which visitors can enjoy from this weekend, with hundreds of works by local artists.

Other attractions include Easter craft activities, a tea dance, Story & Rhyme Time, The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir and more sold out performances.

Here’s what you can enjoy at The Atkinson this week:

Tea Dance

Monday 18 March 2024, 1pm.
The Atkinson – Studio.
£3 pay on the door

These events are aimed at the over 50s, with plenty of chance to get up and dance or to spectate and socialise.

We welcome the line-dancers, armchair hand wavers, jivers and the everything in-betweens to meet new friends and join in the fun.

So join us for a great time, show off your moves and raise some funds for Sefton Opera.

The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir
Every Tuesday, 10am – 12pm
£3 per session

Sing away stress, embrace joy, and lift your spirits with the magic of music in our welcoming Wellbeing Choir!

Story & Rhyme Time
Every Wednesday, 11:30am – 12:15pm
Free.

Unleash your little one’s imagination with these interactive story and rhyme time sessions!

Easter Craft Activities

Free, drop in event. Donations welcome.

Expect Easter-themed crafts, card-making, egg decorating, colouring and much more!

Merseyside Polonia delivered this craft session back in 2022. This year they will bring the Easter magic to Southport once again! Drop-in any time between 11am–2pm and get creative.

Children must be supervised by an adult.
First come first served. You may be expected to wait until a space at a craft table becomes available.

The Sefton Open is an annual exhibition celebrating the creativity and artistic talent across the borough. The exhibition takes over The Atkinson’s art gallery in an eclectic salon-style hang and features a wide variety of works from individual artists and local groups. Each year the exhibition attracts thousands of visitors to The Atkinson.
Come along and support local artists! You can do this by purchasing pieces, buying an exhibition catalogue and even voting for your favourite submission to win The People’s Prize!
