A brand new pantomime is coming to the Waterfront Southport Hotel this Christmas!
And it’s a panto with a difference.
Instead of being performed inside a large theatre, it will be a fun, interactive show which families can enjoy in the stylish events space overlooking the beautiful Marine Lake.
People will be able to enjoy a delicious Festive Afternoon Tea at the hotel while seeing Dick Whittington, by the Southport-based Gambolling Arena Theatre Company.
Will Dick find his fame and fortune on his way to London? Will the Bow Bells give him a sign? Will he sell his beloved cat? You’ll have to watch the show to find out.
Rehearsals at the Waterfront Southport Hotel have already begun taking place.
Director Suzy Walker said: “We are looking forward to performing two shows of Dick Whittington.
“One performance will take place on Sunday, 17th December 2023, with the second one on Christmas Eve, Sunday, 24th December, both between 1pm and 3.30pm. It will be a sit-down Festive Afternoon Tea with a full interactive panto happening all around you.”

“It’s very different and sure to be very popular.
We are aiming for it to be a very relaxed, fun, family-friendly experience.
Not every child likes going and sitting down in a theatre seat to watch a pantomime.”
“Dick Whittington is written by West End actor John Coates and is choreographed by Liv Grace and Megan Wagstaff.

The fact that people can come and enjoy it on Christmas Eve will be really special too.
“It will be very interactive for young children and an amazing start to Christmas for them.
It is a particularly big thing for Christmas Eve, when Mums and Dads, Nannies and Grandads can all come together and enjoy a magical festive experience.
We were delighted to be approached by the Waterfront Southport Hotel to stage these shows during this festive season.”
Costs are as follows:
Adults: £35 per adult
Children (4-12 years): £17.50 per child
(3 years and under) Complimentary (based on 1 x child per adult)
