Adventure Coast Southport is inviting people to nominate children who have shown remarkable courage for this year’s Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

The popular family attraction would love to hear your stories of children who you’re proud of ahead for the Child of Courage category.

Nominating couldn’t be easier – please submit your details via the Pride Of Sefton Awards website: prideofseftonawards.co.uk or email: standupforsouthport@gmail.com

The annual Pride Of Sefton Awards will take place at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 25th April 2025.

Organisers are seeking nominees who have shown immense courage in the face of adversity. Courage comes in different shapes – is it a child who has battled illness, performed an act of bravery or done something truly remarkable while up against the odds?

CEO of Adventure Coast Southport, Normal Wallis, said:

“There are so many individuals doing incredible things in Sefton.

“The Pride of Sefton Awards are a fantastic initiative, giving us as a community a reason to come together and celebrate the efforts of those going above and beyond to make Sefton a special place to live and work.

“Adventure Coast Southport is proud to be an inclusive park. We’re delighted to be able to help recognise children doing remarkable things in our community.”

Adventure Coast Southport is the perfect sponsor for this category, having been dedicated to family entertainment since it first opened its gates 111 years ago.

The attraction has launched its new name this year having previously been known as Southport Pleasureland.

Last year’s Sefton Child Of Courage Award had three winners:

Last summer, on a day out with his family, Jose was involved in a horrendous accident in Southport. He suffered appalling injuries and only recently returned to school full time shortly before last year’s awards. Jose showed huge amounts of courage and determination, even in pain. He is an inspiration to others.

Dylan Roberts has complex health needs having been born addicted to Heroin and diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and other conditions. He has had various operations but loves having a laugh with everyone and is loved by many.

He enjoys school and his friends, Royal Rangers, rock climbing, canoeing and more.

Ralphy Thompson

Ralphy is four years old and has already undergone heart surgery after being diagnosed with a very rare genetic abnormality. He has had his fair share of hospital stays and surgery but still keeps a smile on his face, and shows huge strength, resilience and courage.

People and groups who go above and beyond to make Sefton a special place for all will be presented with their trophies and given thanks in the Princess Grace Suite at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport town centre on Friday, 25th April 2025.

The event is organised by Miklhail Hotel And Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport with media partners In Demand Radio.

The unmissable night in the Liverpool City Region events calendar will be presented by Claire Simmo.

All those on the shortlist will be invited to a special celebratory meal in beautiful surroundings while the awards are presented, with a night of superb entertainment planned.

Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date on 2nd March 2025.

Organisers are looking for nominations, across Southport, Formby, Crosby, Bootle, Maghull and elsewhere in the borough of Sefton.
