Authentic Irish pub Punch Tarmey’s in Southport is getting ready to welcome customers for an exciting weekend of St Patrick’s Day celebrations!

Revellers will be able to enjoy a packed weekend full of live music and entertainment as they toast the patron Saint of Ireland in style.

There is lots going on throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday (15th-17th March 2024) for people to enjoy.

Punch Tarmey’s is well stocked with some of the finest Guinness around in addition to an extensive selection of over 50 different whiskies.

Punch Tarmey’s was opened by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group in 2016 on the corner of Lord Street and Union Street after a substantial renovation of the vacant former Mulligans bar.

The fixtures and fittings were carefully chosen and shipped over from Ireland to complete the bar’s authentic feel.

Many of the people working on the refit came from a Dublin-based design team who spent several months working with MHALG Chairman Andrew Mikhail in Southport overseeing the renovations.

There is a boxing theme to the pub which is in honour of Andrew Mikhail’s great grandfather, Michael Tarmey, who was a champion boxer in the early 1900s.

Visitors to the pub will feel as if they have been transported to the heart of Dublin with traditional Irish music and a party atmosphere that is impossible to miss.

For anyone heading into Liverpool, sister pub Punch Tarmey’s will be hosting the biggest St Patrick’s party in Liverpool.

This Saturday there will be live music all day and night with The Forged Takeover.

Visitors can enjoy Irish dancers, Forged girls, giveaways, confetti, and then taking things up a level from 9pm with Karl Mac.

On Sunday, don’t miss live TV coverage of Liverpool versus Manchester United.

Punch Tarmey’s Southport Manager Trinity Christian said: “We have got lots going on through the whole weekend.

“It’s going to be busy! Punch Tarmey’s is always a very popular place to be for people on and around St Patrick’s Day. It’s the best place to be!

“We will have some fantastic live music on for people 8pm-10pm on  Friday night with Feadog Duo; 4pm-11pm on Saturday with Joe’s Alien, Hayley Murray and Jukebox Duo; and 2pm-4pm on Sunday with our Paddy’s Day Party with Johnny Roxx.

“We are decorating the pub especially for the weekend and all the staff will be getting into the spirit of the event.

“St Patrick’s is fast becoming one of the busiest weekends of the year for people enjoying nights out.

“We have a great selection of drinks available, including Guinness, and a choice of 50 whiskies, one of the biggest in the region.

“We will be offering special offers of 3 for £10 on selected shots.

“The atmosphere is going to be fantastic. We can’t wait to welcome everyone for the best St Patrick’s Day celebration weekend in Southport!”

Punch Tarmey’s takes the best of old pub culture and blends it with the trends of today with an extensive beer, whisky, cocktail and gin menu.
