People are being asked to help create “the best ever Children In Need Day for Southport!”

Every year, volunteers from Southport Hesketh Round Table 1199 accompany Pudsey Bear on visits to numerous local schools, businesses and other venues as they encourage people to donate to the annual charity appeal.

This year they’re asking people to contact them to book a special visit from Pudsey as they look to make more appearances than ever before.

Earlier this year, Tablers in Southport were delighted to present donations worth a total of over £35,000 to recipients ahead of their annual AGM  – their highest ever total.

They make a huge difference in the local community and want people to help them make this year’s Children In Need appeal a huge success.

Marc Foreman from Southport Hesketh Round Table 1199 said:

“Hi Southport! It’s that time of year again that we bring Pudsey Bear out of hibernation and take him to visit schools and local businesses on Friday, 17th November 2023.

“Last year we managed to visit more schools, nurseries, colleges, play groups and activity centres than EVER before.

“We also managed to visit and collect donations from more local businesses than ever before too! We’re sure it’s a world record.

“We’re trying to smash last year’s visits and BBC1’s Children In Need donations and raise even more money for the cause.

“We have sent emails to local schools and colleges however if you haven’t received one and haven’t been booked in please message us directly.

“If there are any businesses that would like a visit from Pudsey Bear please message us directly and we will try and fit in as many as possible.

“We can’t guarantee an exact time, but we can guarantee that we will spend a speedy 10-15 minutes with as many of you as teddy-bearly possible!

“Let’s make this year the best ever Children In Need Day for Southport!”

The volunteers at Southport Hesketh Round Table 1199 never stop.

Next they’re looking forward to the run-up to Christmas when they bring their famous Santa Float, and the legendary Dancing Santa, onto the streets of Southport and beyond.

Marc said: “After Children In Need, it’s then full steam ahead for the Southport Santa Float, so we will be releasing the routes shortly afterwards.

“We’re a group of gentlemen from all backgrounds that meet twice a month and put on some of Southport’s biggest and best events and raise lots of money for local charities and community projects.

“If anyone would like to join, volunteer or assist in the future please get in contact with us via our Facebook page Southport Hesketh Round Table 1199.”
