Rebecca Bamber and her Dad, Peter Perks, will be heading over to India to take part in the totally crazy and unique, Rickshaw Run

A woman and her dad are preparing to take a 3,000km rickshaw ride through India – to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice in Southport!

Rebecca Bamber and her Dad, Peter Perks, are asking people to sponsor their mammoth Rickshaw Run challenge which they will look to tackle this September.

A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “In September, Rebecca and Peter will be heading over to India to take part in the totally crazy and unique Rickshaw Run.

“What’s the Rickshaw Run we hear you ask? Think about a three-wheeled cart with no doors that has a tendency to roll over!

“Two people will set off in a rickshaw at the top of India and make their way through the country in any way they wish, to get to the finish point at the bottom of India. Approximately 3,000km!

“There’s no set route provided, no support, just father and daughter in a rickshaw with a two week deadline to get to the finish line in time. What an adventure!”

Rebecca’s Dad, Peter, will be the oldest person to complete the Rickshaw challenge at the age of 72 and Rebecca can’t wait to see his face when he heads out the airport in India.

After never stepping foot out of Europe before, it is definitely going to be a new experience for him, and what wonderful memories will be made.

Rebecca and Peter, from Wigan, would like to raise as much as they can for two hospices very close to their hearts; Queenscourt Hospice in Southport, along with Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
