Over 200 local children from DBA School of Dance in Southport took to the stage at Greenbank High School to present their class work and celebrate a short awards ceremony.

During the day there were three performances, where the supportive audiences of parents, family and friends enjoyed watching the students perform a variety of technical exercises from the posture and poise of ballet, rhythmical Tap dancing, strong and controlled Acro and a fun upbeat Beatz class.  Students from four years old to 12 years old performed with confidence and excitement.

The second part of the afternoon saw an awards ceremony where all students were praised for all they have achieved, not only the skills and knowledge they have been developing through their dance sessions but also their confidence, independence and helpfulness towards others.

DBA School of Dance strives to create a community of dancers where everyone is welcome and all achievements are celebrated together.

Awards were presented by Principals Miss Rebekah and Miss Jennifer. They said: “We’re still beaming ear to ear, we’re so proud of each and every one of our students.

“They have worked so hard for the class presentation and my goodness it showed! Well done everyone!

“We can’t thank all you lovely grown-ups enough for choosing DBA, all your continued support and patience during the planning of an event like this, it really is appreciated. We’re both so very grateful, Thank you.”

Many local businesses helped put the finishing touches to that day Including Creation Nation, Replica Print, Glenn and Nicola Howard on Sound and lighting, plus the wonderful DBA Team of teachers and backstage helpers. All students received an achievement medal and the following special recognition awards which where engraved by Simon Ford Jewelers, Churchtown were presented for:

Top Tapper: Jessica Howard, Vivienne Grey & Leah Clementson

DBA Beatz: Charlotte Watkinson, Olivia Hempton & Maisie Jones

Acro Awards: Harper Barton, Mila Ball & Elsie Ashcroft & Grace Kimball

DBA Shining star:  Georgina Cawsey, Sienna Lloyd & Harper Stevenson
