BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Merseyside have teamed up with three iconic local venues – including Connolly’s in Southport town centre – to find the most exciting new artists from Merseyside, ahead of Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool this May.

A BBC spokesperson said: “If you’re making music and you’ve not been played on BBC Introducing before, we want to hear from you!

“Come down to one of our Open Mic nights, showcase your songs and you could be played on Radio 1!

“We’re looking for young artists who haven’t had loads of exposure before – so if you’re at the start of your musical journey (rather than a seasoned pro) this is for you…

Register your interest or sign up on the night. See you on stage!”

The nights will take place at:

  • Sunday 6th April 2025 – The Jacaranda – Sign ups from 6pm. 8pm start time.
  • Tuesday 8th April 2025 – Future Yard, Birkenhead – 7pm
  • Wednesday 9th April 2025 – Connolly’s Irish Pub, King Street, Southport – 6:30pm

Event Date: Sunday 6th April 2025 – Tuesday 8th April 2025
