New owners have been announced for The Shake Factory in Southport

New owners are working on “big plans” to revitalise and reopen The Shake Factory in Southport town centre.

Run by Paul Whitfield and his daughter Scarlett, the Shake Factory first launched in Prescot in 2016 and opened its second site on Hoghton Street in Southport town centre in 2021.

The Shake Factory also operated at local events including the Southport Food and Drink Festival.

Based in Southport for four years, the Hoghton Street dessert shop closed its doors for the final time in June.

The popular dessert shop offered milkshakes, waffles, cookie dough, pancakes and more.

In a statement on social media at the time, Scarlett said: “I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the Shake Factory throughout the seven years myself and my dad have had the shop.

“The Shake Factory has been in my life since I was 15 years old, it was my first job, and my first business. The closure of the Shake Factory has been a tough decision but I can’t wait to see what the future holds in this next chapter in my life.”

New owners have now taken over the Shake Factory and are looking forward to creating something new and exciting for Southport.

They said: “We are pleased to announce the new owners of what used to be The Shake Factory. We are Julie and Sophie! A mother and daughter team who have big plans for 5B Hoghton Street.

“We look forward to keeping you updated with our progress on this new venture.

“We are bringing a totally new concept which includes new branding, new menu, new opening hours, and a refurbishment.

“We have no date in mind for the opening, as work hasn’t even started yet!

“We want to give special thanks to Scarlett and Phil for making the takeover seamless and wish them all the luck with their next steps. Onwards and upwards.”
