Fundraising appeal launched to help boy injured in zorb accident at Southport Food and Drink Festival

People are being encouraged to support a fundraising appeal for a boy who was seriously injured in a zorbing accident at Southport Food and Drink Festival. 

The nine-year-old boy, a pupil at Holy Family Catholic Primary School, on Norwood Crescent in Southport, has undergone multiple operations after the zorb he was in was blown high into the air at the event on the afternoon of Sunday, 7th June 2033. 

He was airlifted from Victoria Park to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool where he has been cared for by medical staff. 

A fundraiser has now been set up by Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Southport, allowing people to donate here.

Generous members of the public have already donated over £570.

The school said: “The little boy who was involved in the zorbing accident last month goes to our school. 

“He’s been in Alder Hey hospital and had multiple operations. 

“We want to help support the family while he recovers in as many practical ways as possible.” 

Louise Morton, Headteacher at Holy Family Primary said: “The entire school community continues to give its support to the family of one of our pupils who was involved in a horrible accident. 

“Over the last few weeks, we have been inundated with queries from parents, guardians, and local businesses who want to know what they can do to support the family going forward.
