Discover the latest volunteering roles in Southport and Formby

Volunteer Centre Sefton are delighted to be working with Stand Up for Southport to provide a monthly update on volunteering across the Southport and Formby area.

Volunteering is a rewarding way of giving back to your community and it can offer you many benefits. It can help you to meet new people, boost your self-confidence, help you feel less isolated and it can improve your CV. At Volunteer Centre Sefton, we have hundreds of volunteer roles across the borough and we have curated a handful of our latest volunteer roles in Southport and Formby.

Sefton Pride 

Sefton Pride’s first march and event is taking place in Victoria Park in Southport on 16th July 2023. To make this event happen they need your help. They are looking for volunteer event stewards and march marshals.

Volunteer marshals are needed for an hour to support the march starting at The Atkinson and finishing at Victoria Park, by directing participants, keeping everyone together and ensuring people cross roads safely.

Volunteer Stewards are needed for a few hours between 12-6 pm (in shifts) to support the event including directing attendees to various stands, manning a Sefton Pride stall and general marshalling.

Revitalise

Revitalise is celebrating its 60th Anniversary and they are looking for members of the community and surrounding areas to support them in their local fundraising and engagement event on 15th July. There is a chance to do shifts of 2-3 hours as the day is from 10 am-5 pm at Fylde Road Co-op, Southport. The tasks involved include:

•         Bucket Collection
•         Distribution of Flyers
•         Engaging with members of the public
•         Talking to members of the public about Revitalise and the Sandpipers Centre (information will be given to volunteers)
•         Representing a national charity that supports people with disabilities and their carer’s rights, freedom, and ability to help them to take respite breaks.

NCT

The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Southport, Ormskirk and Formby branch is looking for walk leaders to help lead walks for new parents. The Southport NCT Walk & Talk are looking for more walk leaders to help keep the walk running. You don’t need any experience with leading walks, all you need to do is to enjoy walking, meeting new parents and  their babies, ensure everyone is safe and make everyone feel welcome. 

Girlguiding

Girlguiding has been a big part of many girl’s and women’s lives; it has been a place for girls to come together in a safe environment and build the skills and confidence they need as they grow and a place to have fun! Girlguiding are currently looking for volunteers to help with Rainbows in various locations in Southport. If you can help, apply today.

Formby Community Football Club

Formby Community Football Club (FCFC) was established in 2019 and now has over 600 members taking part every week. The club is open to all and boasts of girl’s and boy’s teams as well as women’s’ and men’s’ teams for all ages and abilities. The club ethos rests on the idea that grassroots football can be a positive vehicle for community cohesion. They are currently looking to fill the following roles:

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees FCFC’s general bookkeeping and accounting, acting as the primary contact for all the club’s financial queries. The Treasurer will lead all budget planning, financial reporting, record-keeping, and manage creditors and debtors. The Treasurer must have a strong understanding of basic financial principles. Please note this is a voluntary role and works alongside the club’s voluntary Committee.

Assistant welfare officer

The Assistant Welfare Officer will support the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) to provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all of the club’s children and young people. You will be a point of contact for any safeguarding concerns within the club and will support the CWO to ensure all Managers/Assistant Managers and Volunteers hold The FA’s pre-requisite safeguarding qualifications and adhere to FA policy and procedure.

Brighter Living Partnership

Brighter Living, a healthy living centre based in Southport, is looking for volunteer leaflet distributers to help them get the word out about their groups, events and projects. This is a flexible role that will require you to distribute leaflets and other marketing materials around your local area, maintain records of where materials have been distributed, talk positively about Brighter Living Partnership and its services and activities if asked and advise the team if you need more materials or can think of other locations to leaflet drop.
