Four remarkable Sefton Child Of Courage winners honoured as Adventure Coast Southport praises ‘truly inspiring’ children

Adventure Coast Southport was honoured to sponsor the Child of Courage Award at the 2025 Grand Pride of Sefton Awards, held on Friday 25th April at The Grand, Southport.

The prestigious awards evening celebrated exceptional individuals and organisations across the borough, recognising those who have made a profound difference to their community.

One of the most moving moments of the night was the presentation of the Child of Courage Award, which recognised four extraordinary young people for their bravery and selflessness.

The winners – ‘Sarah’, ‘Amber’, Maximus Johnson, and Isla Rose Steel – who were each commended for their remarkable acts of courage.

Their stories, shared in front of a full audience at The Grand, were a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience found within the local community.

The award was presented by Norman Wallis, Chief Executive of Adventure Coast Southport, who attended the event on behalf of the organisation.

“It was a privilege to stand alongside these incredible young people and recognise their bravery,” said Norman.

“Their courage and determination in the face of such adversity is truly inspiring.

Adventure Coast Southport extends its congratulations to all nominees and winners and looks forward to continuing its support for initiatives that uplift and honour the local community,” he added.

Adventure Coast Southport is committed to celebrating local heroes and supporting initiatives that reflect the very best of the region.

Sponsoring the Child of Courage Award aligns closely with the park’s community values – particularly in recognising young people who show leadership, courage and hope in challenging circumstances.

Organised by the Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport, with support from media partners In Demand Radio, the awards attracted over 2,000 nominations this year – highlighting the extraordinary kindness and community spirit found throughout Sefton.

In addition to celebrating winners across a variety of categories, the evening raised funds for Southport Strong Together and the ICU Steps charity, further emphasising the event’s positive impact.
