Southport Football Club is in the process of being sold to new owners after Big Help Group announced they have entered into a period of exclusivity regarding the sale.
It follows the end of the National League North league season on Saturday, which saw the Sandgrounders enjoy a stunning 2-1 victory over title-chasing Kidderminster Harriers.
Sporting Director Tammy Burgess has also stepped down from her role at Haig Avenue.
Southport Football Club Chairman Peter Mitchell said:
“Following on from the conclusion of the 24/25 National League North Season I wanted to provide you with some important updates regarding Southport Football Club.
“Firstly, I can today confirm that Tammy Burgess has stepped down from her voluntary role as Sporting Director with immediate effect.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Tammy for her dedication, professionalism and significant contributions during her time with us. Her expertise and commitment have been invaluable in helping to shape the sporting direction of Southport FC, and we wish her every success in her future endeavours.
“Secondly, in respect to recent speculation, I can also confirm that Big Help Group has entered into a period of exclusivity regarding the sale of Southport Football Club. Furthermore I can confirm that the process is currently underway to obtain the necessary league approvals for this transition of ownership.
“We understand this is an important period for our supporters and stakeholders, and we will as always aim to be open and transparent throughout this process and endeavour to provide further updates on this matter in due course. In this interim period everyone at the club from the Boardroom to the volunteers remain solely focused on maintaining stability during this transition period and preparing for the season ahead.”
