Families are invited to enjoy the Birkdale Village Summer Fayre as it takes place in Birkdale Village in Southport this Sunday (Sunday 30th July 2023). 

The popular annual event, organised by Birkdale Civic Society, is free to attend and will feature a Classic Car Show, with over 40 beautiful vehicles from 100 years old to the modern day on display. 

Between 10am and 6pm, you can enjoy: fairground rides; lots of entertainment; a dog show; great food; emergency services vehicles; singers; face painting; food stalls; and much more. 

Funds from the Birkdale Village Summer Fayre will go towards Southport Lifeboat, Southport Kidney Fund and the Birkdale Village Upkeep fund. 

Birkdale Village is famous for its top quality independent shops, bars, restaurants and other local businesses, all of which will be open on the day. 

The team from One Media Solutions, among the organisers, will be on site photographing and filming on the day. 

Birkdale Civic Society Chair Charlotte Woods said:

“The Birkdale Civic Society is thrilled to have partnered up with our local traders once again to bring a very special day to our community! 

“After the huge success of our Christmas event, our Summer Fayre will be even more packed with entertainment, great food, and fun activities for everyone. 

“On the day we have the return of our Classic Car show, with over 40 cars being displayed along Liverpool Road and in our Family Fun Zone at VIP HQ. 

“We will have everything from 1920s vehicles to modern day supercars, as well as a range of emergency service vehicles and motorbikes! 

“We also have our Dog Show, taking place at the Birkdale Conservative Club, and hosted by the fantastic Max from Milla & Max Grooming. 

“With 10 categories that people can enter their dogs into, and some fantastic prizes to be won, including vouchers for our local businesses, we’re hoping for a great show!

“As well as that, we also have our fairground, loads of great food offerings, face painting, live singers, and much more! 

“On the day we will be raising funds for Southport Lifeboat, the Southport Kidney Fund and the Birkdale Village Upkeep fund which helps us to maintain our defibrillators, planting and lighting in the village. We hope to see you all there!” 

People are being asked to be aware of the road closures in place for Sunday. 

Charlotte said: “Please be aware that the section of Birkdale Village between Welbeck Road and Birkdale Station will be CLOSED from 8am – 8pm on Sunday 30th July for the Village Fayre.

“Parking is also suspended from 11pm the night before in order to ensure overnight set-up.

“Please do not park your car in the Village overnight on Saturday as you will not be able to move it until 8pm on Sunday. Full diversion routes will be in place.” 

Fiona McGregor, a member of Birkdale Civic Society and co-owner of One Media Solutions, is leading the marketing for the event. She said: 

“There is lots going on! We are closing off Liverpool Road, from Rainbow 2000 to The Station Masters House.

“Liverpool Road will then host fairground rides, external stall holders with food stalls, a face painter, art stalls and pamper bus as well as lots more, and a selection of super cars including Ferraris and Harley Davidson motorbikes. 

“There will also be a stage where there will be a mixture of singers and entertainment.

“We are hosting a pet show between 12pm and 5pm – with 10 categories to enter your dogs, sponsored by local company Milla & Max, there are prizes up for grabs from Milla & Max  for each round as well trophies and also vouchers from local traders such a Barrique / Croziers / VIP HQ.

“The Pet Show is being held in The Conservative Club car park.

“We have a classic car show with over 30 classic cars and a family fun zone including The Kidz Party bus in the car park behind VIP HQ, where there will also be a BBQ / bar and children’s games.

“The Park car park will be closed and will host fairground rides. Weld Parade car park will be closed and will host a variety of external stall holders.

“Southport Saviours will be outside Polansky’s barber shop showing people how to use defibrillators. 

“We will have a visit from Southport fire brigade with one of their engines and Southport Lifeboat will be paying a visit.

“Most hospitality venues will have singers / external food venders outside their premises

“We will have two ice cream vans, doughnut stalls, face painters etc. 

“Other  traders have different things going on outside their shops.

One Media Solutions will be there photographing and filming on the day, we are really looking forward to seeing everyone!”
