This year’s Father’s Day takes place on Sunday 19th June 2022.
The gift cards were launched by the Southport Business Improvement District (Southport BID) as a way of giving a boost to our local economy while encouraging people to spend local.
Dads in Southport will have lots of great places to choose where they want to spend their gift, with the card accepted at over 80 Southport shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and attractions.
Southport Gift Card can be spent in high street favourites such as M&S, Flannels, Morrisons supermarket and Sports Direct plus dozens of popular independent favourites such as Reputation Menswear, Deli Volare, Man to Man, Tap and Bottles, Bijou Cinema, Peaky Blinders and Victoria Leisure.
The Southport Gift Card makes a superb gift for friends and family. People can buy it from £5 up to £500 using the link here, or pick up a card from The Atkinson and load online.
Southport BID launched the initiative in order to encourage more people to spend money locally and to help firms recover from the Covid-19 lockdown.
Southport BID CEO Rachel Fitzgerald said: “Buying your Dad a Southport Gift Card is a really thoughtful gift which will give them a great choice over where they can spend it, while also supporting our many local businesses here in Southport.
“Now that lockdown restrictions have finally eased, it is more important than ever for people to ‘shop local’, ‘spend local’ and support our local venues.
“The Southport Gift Card is a great way of keeping spend right at the heart of the local economy while saying ‘Happy Father’s Day’.”
The new scheme works exactly like any other shop gift card scheme. The purchaser can pre-load from £5 up to £500 on a card that they give as a present to family members, colleagues or friends. The card can then be spent just like any other debit card and they can purchase from any venue accepting it and spread their spend across as many venues as they wish.
The Mastercard-based gift card could also be used by the town centre’s many offices and companies as an incentive for employees and colleagues.

Southport BID has partnered with Miconex to deliver the pre-payment gift card with the aim to have it accepted in over 150 stores, hospitality venues or attractions. Similar town gift cards across the country have seen tens of thousands kept in the local economy a year.
