It’s the final weekend of the 2024 school Easter holidays – and there are lots of fantastic things that families can enjoy in Southport! 

Here are some of the things happening this weekend – head out and enjoy! 

1 – DinoTown Southport

Have you seen the famous Southport dinosaurs yet?

You’d better hurry as the brilliant DinoTown attraction, created by Southport BID, is here until Sunday! (14th April 2024).

Thousands of families have enjoyed walking through Southport town centre to discover the series of incredible brick-built dinosaur models and hunting giant chocolate eggs.

Local businesses have also joined in the fun, offering a range of fun activities suitable for little ones, families, and dino-fanatics of all ages to enjoy.

2 – Dino walkabout

Dinosaurs will be roaming Southport this Sunday (14th April 2024), with families invited to see if you can spot them! 

Four hand-held animatronic dinosaurs will be accompanied by dino rangers from G Models & Casting Agency around 1pm-3pm Sunday lunchtime as they wander around different parts of Southport town centre, adding some roar-some entertainment to the final day of Southport BID’s magical DinoTown attraction.

3 – Wayfarers Shopping Arcade Craft and Gift Fair 

Pick up some unique hand-made goods at the Wayfarers Craft Fair with Memory lane Fairs Liverpool at Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, Lord Street, Southport. 

Spot the DinoTown dinosaur inside the arcade too! 

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th April 2024. 

10am to 4pm

Free admission. 

4 – Southport FC needs your support 

It’s a massive game at the Big Help Stadium today, ad Southport FC host Rushall Olympic. 

Southport sit three points above the relegation zone with two matches to play and need points – and a noisy crowd – to lift them to safety! 

Kick off 3pm.

5 – Southport Pleasureland

Southport Pleasureland has reopened for the school Easter holidays with visitors sure to be thrilled at the new additions to the park this season.

Southport Pleasureland Chief Executive Officer Norman Wallis said: “Since August 2023 we have invested over £5 million into the park. 

“We have created a new themed land, ‘Steampunk Bay’.’”

5 – Silcock’s Carousel and the new Balcony Bar

A day to the seaside wouldn’t be the same without a trip to Silcock’s Carousel and Funland, Southport’s largest family amusement centre. 

Enjoy fish and chips inside Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant and check out their new Balcony Bar, with views out across the Marine Lake and King’s Gardensd.

6 – Totally Chaotic History Museum Trail 

This Easter, discover amazing stories and objects from Ancient Egypt at The Atkinson as part of the Totally Chaotic History Museum Trail, organised by Kids in Museums and Walker Books. The national trail for families celebrates the release of Totally Chaotic History Ancient Egypt Gets Unruly by bestselling historian and podcaster Greg Jenner with expert interruptions by Dr Campbell Price, an Egyptologist from Manchester Museum, and illustrations by Rikin Parekh.

7 – Les Miserables by SONG

Also at The Atkinson this weekend is Les Miserables, by the talented young performers from SONG. 

An outstanding production, unfortunately sold out, unless there are any return tickets.
