Dinosaurs will be roaming Southport this Sunday (14th April 2024), with families invited to see if you can spot them!
Four hand-held animatronic dinosaurs will be accompanied by dino rangers from G Models & Casting Agency around Sunday lunchtime as they wander around different parts of Southport town centre, adding some roar-some entertainment to the final day of Southport BID’s magical DinoTown attraction.
You might be able to see: Terry the Pterodactyl; Spiral the Spinosaurus; Smudge the Stigimoloch; or Apollo the Ankylosaurs.
DinoTown has seen fifteen awe-inspiring brick-built dinosaur Brickosaur models, consisting of over 550,000 bricks, placed in locations throughout Southport town centre.
The prehistoric figures have attracted visitors from across the region during the school Easter holidays.
Families can also enjoy a whole host of dinosaur themed events and activities taking place.
They also include a Dinormous Egg Hunt, where you can hunt out huge chocolate Easter eggs hidden around town.

The latest investment has seen several dinosaurs and other items bought from Dinosaur Encounter Cumbria.
G Models & Casting Agency CEO Lisa Hames said:
“We are excited to bring our new dinosaurs to meet and interact with people in Southport this weekend!
“We will have four hand-held animatronic dinosaurs and their rangers walking around Southport town centre for a couple of hours this Sunday lunchtime, saying hello to people and visiting some of the brilliant DinoTown models.
“If anyone spots our prehistoric pets, please come over and say hello. We’d love to see your pictures on social media too!
“Dinosaur figures can also be seen all year round at Southport Pleasureland, and we are looking forward to working with Norman, George and their team this coming year.”

G Models & Casting Agency has secured further items from Dinosaur Encounter Cumbria, which include large walking animatronic dinosaurs, dinosaur jeeps, dinosaur pits, dinosaur eggs, and more, which are available for events across the UK.
There are just a few days left to enjoy the Southport BID’s DinoTown in Southport town centre, which runs until this Sunday (14th April 2024).
DinoTown activity maps can be followed online, or printed at home.
They are a great reason for visiting Southport town centre and its many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels and other local businesses during these school Easter holidays.
Visitors can enjoy seeing some of the brick-built dinosaurs close-up at Lord Street Gardens, opposite Sainsbury’s supermarket, which has been transformed into ‘Prehistoric Park’ for the duration of the DinoTown event.
Further models are being displayed at stores and internal locations around Southport town centre, including Marks and Spencer, TK Maxx, and Wayfarers Shopping Arcade.

Budding dinosaur rangers are now tasked with discovering facts and figures about the beasts. Those who complete the set will have the opportunity to enter a competition and win prizes.
‘Dino-Selfie Zones’ are in place at ASDA and Silcock’s Flavours Ice Cream Parlour, where visitors can pose with brick models and enter further competitions to win Dino-themed prizes.
There are also plenty of other dinosaur-themed events and activities taking place in businesses across Southport town centre. Keep an eye out for dino-workshops, character shows, colouring competitions, and much more.
