It may be January but there’s lots of great things to do in Southport this weekend!
Here are some of the many things you can enjoy this Saturday and Sunday (14th and 15th January 2023). If you know of any more please let us know!
1 – Snow White pantomime at The Atkinson

The story of Snow White by All Souls Dramatic Club explores strength, beauty and determination. It is a tale of celebrating you that you are unique and special and that is your superpower. The most amazing thing about you is there is no one else like you. It is a story about a girl who can and who did.
A family extravaganza will take audiences on a magical journey with lots of laughs along the way.
Snow White by All Souls Dramatic Club is at The Atkinson Theatre, Lord Street, Southport town centre between January 12th and 22nd 2023 with some matinee performances available.

2 – The Promenade: A Leisurely Stroll Along Southport’s Seafront

Take an exclusive sneak preview inside an exciting new exhibition on Southport’s history opening at the Atkinson on Lord Street this Saturday (14th January 2023).
‘The Promenade: A Leisurely Stroll Along Southport’s Seafront’ features many rare paintings, drawings, posters, ceramics and memories of playful days strolling along Southport Pier, The Promenade and around town in the 19th and 20th centuries.
There is a beautiful Victorian dress on display, conjuring memories of ladies in their finest fashions would amble around the beautiful seaside resort.
The exhibition is free to attend, and runs until 11th March 2023.
3 – Southport FC v AFC Fylde

Southport FC return to home action this Saturday (14th January 2023) with a visit from high flying AFC Fylde.
The Sandgrounder’s last Home match was a 2-1 victory over Curzon Ashton on 2nd January, played in front of an impressive crowd of 1,345 spectators.
The game kicks off at 3pm and tickets are available HERE
Southport FC are currently 9th in the National League North table, just two points and two places below the play-off positions.
4 – 100 Ideas For The North

A special event is taking place in Southport this weekend, hosted by two authors eager to find ‘100 Ideas For The North’.
The free workshop takes place at Southport Bijou Cinema, 8 Post Office Avenue, Southport town centre PR9 0US this Saturday (14th January 2023) between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

5 – Enjoy a ride on Silcock’s Carousel

One of Southport’s most iconic attractions will remain open throughout winter.
Herbert Silcock’s 121-year-old Carousel – which has been shortlisted as one of the Liverpool City Region’s top 10 Hidden Gems – will thrill visitors every weekend.
The remarkable ride was built in 1901, in the reign of Queen Victoria, and has entertained hundreds of thousands of delighted families ever since.
It stands proudly at the entrance to Southport Pier, next to Silcock’s Funland and Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant.
Tickets for all riders on Silcock’s Carousel are £2 each. Small children must be accompanied by an adult.
6 – Rear Window at Southport Bijou Cinema

Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (PG, 1954) is at Southport Bijou Cinema, Southport, this Saturday 14th January 2023, starting 2.30pm.
Professional photographer Jeff is stuck in his apartment, recuperating from a broken leg. Out of boredom, he begins to spy on his neighbours and comes across a shocking revelation.
Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey and Thelma Ritter.
