A special event is taking place in Southport this weekend, hosted by two authors eager to find ‘100 Ideas For The North’.

The free workshop takes place at Southport Bijou Cinema, 8 Post Office Avenue, Southport town centre PR9 0US this Saturday (14th January 2023) between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

People are invited to book their places here:

It is being hosted by Tris Brown and Patrick Hurley.

They said: “It’s called ‘100 Ideas For The North’ and is part of a calendar of activity we’ve been undertaking across the north of England over the last 12 months to co-create 100 new social innovation ideas that can be replicated and implemented in our towns and communities in the north.

“We’re inviting people from across Southport with an interest in making their communities better to come along, share their ideas, and contribute to the ultimate aim of the project, which is to collate and publish the 100 best ideas in a book later this year.

“Together we are two passionate Northerners with a long history of campaigning for greater devolution and funding for the North.

“Earlier this year, we decided to start this project asking communities to co-create a list of those transformational projects which would help make a difference where we live.

“Projects should be small enough to be local, big enough to make a difference, and agile enough to be copied in other places.

“We have been blown away by the response wherever we go, including the House of Lords! and we would love it if you could join us in Southport with your ideas.

“Feel free to bring along or invite anyone else you think would be interested, either individuals or community groups. All are welcome!

“You do not have to register, but it’s always useful to let us know you are coming. Obviously, it’s free.

“We’d love to see you there!”
