People have given their verdict on another busy Southport Food and Drink Festival. 

Thousands of people ate around the world at the popular annual event, organised by Sefton Council’s Tourism team.

It took place at Victoria Park in Southport on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (31st May – 2nd June 2024) with over 30,000 enjoying everything on offer. Admission was free. 

Visitors were able to enjoy food and drink from countries including Mexico, UK, Greece, China, Cyprus, Japan, Turkey, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, Poland, India, USA and more with around 130 traders, producers and exhibitors.

They included several traders from Southport, including Tak Taco, Pitamu, Bar Crumble, 600 Degrees, Down & Oot, Hectors Mexicana, Just Wings, Nanny Pearls, Nationwide Catering, Shake Factory, Tandoor-i, The Butchers Kitchen, Xanders, Birkdale Cheese Co, Cake Corner, Pudding and Pie,  Inn Beer, Elite Bars and Parker Brewery. 

People were able to tuck into Spanish churros, Canadian poutine, Thai curry, Cypriot halloumi, Mexican tacos and a host more besides.

Live bands and singer-songwriters kept visitors entertained in the live entertainment marquee  with the lineup including everything from soul and swing to jazz and pop. 

There were lots for children to enjoy with lots of inflatables, face painting and crafts.

Speaking on Stand Up For Southport, Cliff Gillies said: “Went Friday, Saturday and again on Sunday. Absolutely fantastic event, bigger and better every year.

“Friendly, fun, well organised. The weather has helped of course but being able to take a blanket and sit in the sun with music, entertainment for the kids, and friends…with good food and drink is nothing short of brilliant. 

“Thanks to all the organisers and vendors. I hope it’s been as successful for them as it’s been for Southport in general.

“Superb work again from Moonlight Events Ltd and the team.

“Really is one of those events that Southport should be rightly proud of.”

Beverley Anne Newton said: “Went Friday afternoon with friends, took my dog and had a lovely time. Well worth a trip out.

“There was a fantastic band playing from the Netherlands; they were great, we need more of these events. Well done Southport.” 

Rhian Loffarelli said: “Felt there were more tables this time so that was good and bins were being regularly emptied and more of them so didn’t struggle to find one or have it overflowing. “Also liked the set-up of the way it was laid out.

“Also felt just more of everything and the sun shone. 

“Great stalls selling goods to take home and plenty of variety of good food and drink to eat there.”

Debs O’Donnell said: “Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Definitely seems bigger than last year.

“Food delish as well. Well down everyone involved.

“So impressed with the amount of bins available as well as toilet facilities.”

Cailkean Mhor said: “Had lunch there after gym sesh. Good old German beer and couldn’t resist, ‘ halb liter bitte’. Good atmosphere and nice stall holders. Opted for Polish scran and Deutsche bier….prosit!”
