United Legal Assistance is celebrating its 10th birthday.

The fast-growing claims management firm was founded by brother Adam and Gavin Hughes in Southport in 2014.

Last year the business transformed and moved into the historic former Southport Crown Post Office on Lord Street in Southport town centre.

United Legal Assistance is a friendly, honest and professional team with over 30 years experience in the insurance and claims management industry. It has doubled in size in the past year.

United Legal Assistance colleagues enjoyed a day of celebrations at their new office on Friday, with Champagne and cupcakes.

They are due to continue their celebrations with a staff meal at the New China City restaurant in Southport.

Adam Hughes said: “We started out in 2014 in a Portakabin at the Railex Business Park in Southport.

“We started with just two members of staff and have now grown that to a team of 62 colleagues, with two more coming in to join us.

“We have ambitions to grow even further this year. If anyone would like to come and work with us we’d love to hear from you.

“Gavin and I grew up in Southport so we were really pleased to be able to buy the former Southport Post Office in June last year.

“It’s one of the most historic, iconic buildings in Southport and has the perfect location.

“It’s right at the heart of Lord Street, really accessible via public transport for our employees, and perfectly placed for them to be able to enjoy all the restaurants, coffee shops, shops, gyms and other amenities nearby.

“We have recently invested over £100,000 in upgrading our IT infrastructure.

“We deal with over 150,000 legal policies and over 15,000 motor claims every year for over 300 insurance brokers across the UK.

“We invest heavily into developing people’s skills. That includes funding the Level 3 Certificate in Insurance by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

“This Certificate is a core qualification for insurance staff working across all sectors of the profession.

“The Certificate is worth around £2,500 if purchased separately, and when our colleagues qualify, we will reward them with a £1,000 pay rise to celebrate.

“We provide private healthcare, four great staff socials a year, and free coffee.

“We now work with Lucy’s Coffee Shop nearby to provide everyone with free breakfasts every Friday, something that we launched after the results of a staff survey, asking people what they wanted.

“We changed our working hours from 9am-5.30pm to 8.30am-5pm again following discussions with staff.

“We want United Legal Assistance to be an excellent place to work for everyone.

“We have a generous bonus scheme which can see some of our employees add an additional £5,000 to £7,000 to their annual salary based on performance, although this is uncapped.

“We have some employees who have been with us for a number of years and have enjoyed the opportunity to learn, develop and progress within our company.

“We want to keep our success and our growth going and aim to grow our team by around a third over the next two years.

“United Legal Assistance is growing because of the high quality levels of services that we provide for the insurance market.

“We are delighted to be celebrating our 10th birthday, it’s been an amazing first 10 years.”
