Dovehaven Care Homes has smashed its goal of walking 460 miles as an organisation.

Throughout the Month of February, individuals from the company have slid into their walking shoes and collectively walked over 1,000 miles.

This challenge was part of Dovehaven’s National Heart Month campaign, taking place during February.

The organisation challenged its employees to try to collectively walk 460 miles over the month.

The challenge intended to raise awareness of heart related illnesses and to help encourage colleagues to take up heart healthy habits.

460 is a significant number, representing the average of 460 people who die each day in the UK due to heart related diseases (Heart UK).

Dovehaven has been helping spread awareness of the types of behaviours that can reduce an individual’s risk of developing these diseases.

The Southport-based company has been sharing pictures and videos of colleagues taking part in the challenge on its social media sites.

Employees from all sides of the business including carers, home managers, members of the finance team and the Dovehaven CEO have been clocking in their miles every week.
