Southport Pleasureland, in partnership with the Royal British Legion, is thrilled to announce that popular North West band The Lilacs will play at their fundraising event on 1st September 2024.
Earlier this month Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis called on the community to help him raise £1 million for charity in the wake of the recent tragedy in Southport in which three young girls died.
The Lilacs have previously played sets at iconic venues such as Manchester’s Albert Hall, various O2 Academy venues, and the Isle of Wight Festival. With over half a million streams worldwide, the boys from Wigan have built a solid and loyal following and are sure to be a hit when they take to the stage in Southport.
Nick McEntee of the Royal British Legion said:
“We’re delighted that The Lilacs will be joining us to help raise money for our local hospitals and North West Air Ambulance. This is such an important event, and we have been so grateful at the support we’ve had from our local community and further afield.”
In addition to the high energy Indie stylings of The Lilacs, there will be something for every musical taste on the bill on 1st September.
Bands and singers will keep visitors entertained throughout the day with a huge range of music, from Country Folk, to Rock, to Motown and more.
As well as the musical talent throughout the day, and a range of other entertainment which will soon be revealed, ticket holders can enjoy full access to all the attractions at Pleasureland – jump on the Waltzer on The Cartoon Boardwalk, splash down on Loki’s Log Flume in Viking Landing, or test your nerves on The Enigma in Steampunk Bay.
Norman Wallis, CEO of Southport Pleasureland, said:
“Over the last few years, we’ve put a lot of work into creating a beautiful park that offers a fun escape for families right in the heart of Southport. Pleasureland is such an integral part of Southport’s economy and identity, and I am incredibly proud that Pleasureland will host this event as part of the efforts to raise £1 million for these important causes.”
Tickets for the event can be purchased directly on the Southport Pleasureland website for £15: https://www.southportpleasureland.com/ and selecting 1st September on the booking page. Those who can’t attend but still want to support can make a donation via the GoFund Me page: https://gofund.me/e212724c
