HOW DOES IT WORK?

The 10K walk starts at 7.30pm from Pleasureland. The venue is open for registration from 5.30pm where you can enjoy the pre trek entertainment.

WILL THERE BE PARKING ON THE NIGHT?

Yes, there will be parking available on the night at the Car Park, to the left hand side of Southport Pleasureland

WHERE IS REGISTRATION ON THE NIGHT?

Registration will take place at Southport Pleasureland. Please make sure that you check in with our staff on the night before starting the walk, where you will be given your own personal walker number. This should be worn throughout the event.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF SPONSORSHIP THAT I NEED TO RAISE?

We kindly ask for a minimum sponsorship of £30, it is the donations and sponsorship which helps to ‘Keep Queenscourt In Service’.

AS WELL AS GETTING SPONSORS, WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO RAISE MONEY?

Many employers will match fund the amount their employees fundraise. Why not speak with your employer and ask them if they will do this, it is quick and simple to do this and won’t cost you a thing. Usually all they require is a letter from us confirming what you have raised and we will happily provide you with this.

HOW DO I HAND IN MY SPONSOR MONEY?

Please send or hand in sponsorship money to Queenscourt Hospice, Town Lane, Southport, PR8 6RE. Any cheques can be made payable to Queenscourt Hospice. If you have set up a Queenscourt Hospice JustGiving page we automatically receive all donations made through the website, so you don’t need to do anything. To set a page up please visit:- www.justgiving.com/campaign/startrekk22

HOW LONG WILL THE WALK TAKE?

The walk will take approximately 2.5 hours but there is no rush and we encourage all participants to go at their own pace. The event is definitely not a race and there will be no pressure to finish in a certain time. There will be lead walkers as well as walkers at the back of the pack to ensure the last participants return safely.

WILL THERE BE ANY REFRESHMENTS?

You will be given a bottle of water when you sign in to take on your travels and there will be plenty of opportunities for refreshments throughout the route.

WILL THERE BE TOILETS EN ROUTE?

Toilet facilities will be available at the start/finish. Along the route there will be many establishments that will be happy for you to use their facilities.

WILL IT BE SAFE?

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. The event has been organised in conjunction with Merseyside Constabulary and Sefton Council. The route will be well marshalled by volunteers on the night

I’M IN A WHEELCHAIR, CAN I STILL TAKE PART?

The route follows the pavements and is deemed suitable for wheelchair use.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Your registration fee includes a T-Shirt which will be available for collection at Queenscourt Hospice from Wednesday 20th April, (please bring a copy of your registration letter with you). If you don’t manage to collect your t-shirt in advance, some will be available at registration on the night. (For the fashion conscious trekkers this year’s T-Shirt will be LIME GREEN! There is no set dress code and if you and your party would like to go with a theme then you are more than welcome to do so.

DO I HAVE TO BE FIT?

Participants should be in a reasonable state of health. Any participant unsure of their physical ability to take part in Star Trekk should seek medical advice from a GP prior to the event. We do recommend that you should train before taking part and that you feel comfortable that you will be able to complete a long walk. Star Trekk is a fun event, designed for you to take at your own pace, it’s NOT a race.

HOW OLD DO YOU NEED TO BE?

The event is open to all ages, under 16’s can participate however they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

CAN I WALK WITH A GROUP OF MY FRIENDS?

Absolutely, we encourage team participation. To make administration easier, we would encourage all groups of walkers to give themselves a group name. When signing up online you will be given the option to add in your group name.

IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY I CAN SUPPORT THE EVENT?

If you are taking part, please spread the word amongst your colleagues, family, friends and neighbours and any social media platforms you may have. We also need a lot of volunteer support to help the event run smoothly, to get involved contact the Fundraising Department via email fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk or call 01704517420

I AM WAKING IN MEMORY OF SOMEONE SPECIAL

If you are walking in memory of someone special and would like to acknowledge this during the walk there are memory bibs available which you can attach to your t-shirt. You will be able to pick up an In Memory Bib on the night.
