Our Stand Up For Southport Facebook group has now rocketed past 21,000 local members!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has joined our group in the past two years. It has been unbelievable to see our community grow so fast. We also have over 5,000 people in our Stand Up For Southport Instagram group and 5,000 on Twitter for anyone who’d like to follow those sites too, as well as keeping up with all the latest local news on our website.
We’d particularly like to thank all of you who contribute so often by posting your beautiful pictures of Southport looking its best, to those of you who comment on local stories and issues, and who share the things you see happening.
We are delighted to see the Southport Flower Show returning to Victoria Park in Southport today and over the next four days – if you’re there please post your pictures into our group!
We’d also love to hear of any A-Level success stories, with results out today – the culmination of two years of hard work for hundreds of young people in our town.
Have you tried the new Viking Adventure Golf which opened at Southport Pleasureland last weekend? We’d love to see your photos of that too, or anything else that people in our town would love to see.
There are enough sites out there knocking Southport. Enough places reporting crime.
We like to bring you something different. We prefer to bring you the very best about Southport.
So you’ll see lots about local events, with lots of details and pictures of what’s on and what you can enjoy; you’ll be able to see the first news about big new developments and new businesses opening, whether it’s the new £73million Marine Lake Events Centre or The Grand opening on Lord Street or the new Waterstones bookshop opening on Chapel Street; you’ll be able to see lots about the independent local businesses which make our town unique.
We also provide a community platform for people in Southport who need our support, such as the various fundraising events to raise money for local DJ Cassie James, the ongoing campaign to improve the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown, the many fundraising events for local charities such as Queenscourt Hospice, Southport Lifeboat, the Community Link Foundation and others.
Is there anything else you feel we should be covering? Please get in touch and let us know!
Thank you to everyone who continues to join us to Stand Up For Southport.
