A spectacular after dark light trail is coming to Southport this week.
The captivating Luminate light trail will weave a 1.2km long route around the grounds at the beautiful Victoria Park.
The stunning new event will open on Thursday, 25th November and will run until Thursday, 23rd December, starting at 4.30pm each night.
Tickets for the light trail are booked on a starting time slot basis, but you can take as long as you like walking the magical trail.
Visitors will be welcomed into a Christmas hub area where mulled wine and festive street food stalls will be cooking up tasty treats.
Once on the light trail visitors can expect 3D projections, light tunnels, a wishing tree, interactive shadow play and laser light maze and much more.
In previous years the Luminate event has been held at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate and Margam Park in South Wales, a country park and castle.
Daniel Maycock, one of the organisers said ‘We are really looking forward to bringing this magical event to Southport and Victoria Park. It’s a beautiful venue, perfect for an enchanting light trial.”
Alan Adams, General Manager of Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park Events, said: “We are really excited to be hosting this event – helping bring a fantastic new attraction to the town, establishing Southport as an all-year round resort.”
What is Luminate?

A captivating after dark, illuminated trail.
Set to ambient music, you will follow the trail as it meanders through Victoria Park in Southport. Stunning lighting elements and light play will guide you along the way, punctuated by approximately 13 wow moments / highlights.
The trail is approximately 1.2km long and (depending on how quickly you walk through) will take circa 60-90 minutes to complete.
Warm up by the fire pit, where you can toast marshmallows (purchase your marshmallows on site or bring your own marshmallows and skewers).
The entire trail takes place outside ( during winter and after dark). It will be cold, dark and sometimes wet! Please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear.
There will not be ‘traditional festive’ decorations at Luminate and Father Christmas will not be there – he’ll be far too busy getting everything ready at the North Pole!

Are there any health and safety rules I should know?

In order to ensure your own safety and enjoyment (and the safety of our other visitors and staff), all visitors must remain on the clearly marked trail at all times. All children and vulnerable adults must be closely supervised at all times.
Luminate takes place in the winter, after dark in a country estate setting. All areas other than the clearly defined trail will have potential trip hazards and risks to health and safety, which may be difficult to see during the time that Luminate is operational, so please stay on the path at all times and adhere to any instructions/advice given by our stewarding staff.
Conditions on the trail will be continually monitored by an onsite team, but the event takes place in an outside, country setting over winter after dark. So please exercise caution when attending and supervise children and vulnerable adults at all times.
Some of the lighting installations are interactive, so you can enjoy some light play throughout your journey. All such installations will be easily identifiable and will have stewards stationed close-by to guide you with what to do. For your own safety and enjoyment, please do not touch any other lights/electrical installations and ensure children and vulnerable adults are supervised at all times, so as to ensure that they do not.
Please note there are areas of unfenced water on site children and vulnerable adults must be supervised at all times.
Are dogs allowed on the trail?
For the safety and enjoyment of all of our visitors, only guide dogs and registered assistance dogs are permitted at the event.
