Southport Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis

Southport Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis says he believes in  Southport’s “potential to thrive and be great again”.

The business owner says that “collective support is essential” as he called on local people to work together in a positive way to improve our town.

Southport Pleasureland has welcomed thousands of families to the park on Saturday, as it staged the successful Mexican Festival.

Southport has been hit hard by recent events including the horrific tragedy and rioting seen this summer, which followed national events such as the Covid pandemic and the energy crisis.

Mr Wallis is confident that the town can improve with the right vision and support.

He said: “I believe in Southport’s potential to thrive and be great again.

“Our town is filled with resilient, compassionate, knowledgeable individuals who can play their part in building a brighter future for our entire community.

“Together, we have the ability to make a meaningful impact.

“I am sure others do have some fantastic ideas that I believe can uplift not just specific attractions but the whole of Southport, and I would love to share some of them.

“Southport’s visitor economy is vital, but creating local jobs is equally essential to retaining our young people. Digital growth is a promising area with boundless potential that touches nearly every industry.

“We must ensure that our town is clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors, investors, and residents alike.

“Volunteers are crucial to this effort, as the beauty of our town, from flowers to streets, requires care and attention.

“Our collective support is essential. Each of us has a role in Southport’s growth and success, and by working together in a positive, forward-looking manner, we can prevent our town from fading into obscurity.

“Let’s ask ourselves: how can we help Southport flourish? I am confident we can accomplish remarkable things in Southport if we unite behind a shared vision but we need that vision.”
