Southport Pleasureland joins Southport Gift Card scheme to offer families a great day out

Southport Pleasureland is the latest business to sign up to the brand new Southport Gift Card.

The park, based on Marine Drive in Southport, is busy preparing for its forthcoming Winter Season, which will include a brand new Winter Wonderland North and a Christmas lights switch on.

They are also looking forward to their 2021 season with some exciting new surprises for customers.

Southport Gift Card has been launched by Southport BID and is accepted at over 70 local shops, restaurants, attractions, hotels, beauty salons and other local businesses.

It is the perfect way of enjoying all your favourite local businesses while supporting them at this crucial time.

Southport Gift Card can now be used to purchase wristbands for Southport Pleasureland.

These must be purchased online in advance, and cannot be purchased at the gate.

At this time Southport Pleasurerland cannot  accept the Gift Card for ancillary purchases inside the park, although this may soon change.

Last month the park closed its 2020 Summer season early due to rising Covid-19 cases in the area but is hopeful that, if cases fall, then it may soon be able to open for its first ever Winter Season with some exciting things planned.

CEO at Southport Pleasureland Norman Wallis said: “We are really very happy to support Southport BID with this project.

“The new Southport Gift Card is a great way of supporting local businesses here in Southport and it makes the perfect present to give someone close to you.”

Looking forward to the new Winter Season, he said: “We all have a duty to put safety first.  Our business is all about providing an environment where families can come and have fun and the measures we have put in place here over Summer have worked really well.

“We are now concentrating on delivering a series of special occasions that will provide spectacular but safe family entertainment in the run-up to Christmas.”

The park plans to run its best yet ‘Day of the Dead’, an increasingly popular high-octane after-dark annual ‘celebration of life’ featuring colourful samba drummers, fire spinners, fire-eaters, music, the park’s rides fully illuminated and running – and a dramatic fireworks finale.  The whole-family Mexican celebration, which will see the park festooned with bright and beautiful sugar skulls, on Saturday November 14 will include outdoor food concessions and bars with proven Covid-19 safety measures in place.

Gates open at 5pm and prices include unlimited rides. Places are limited.

At the end of November (Saturday November 28) the park will host its own Christmas lights switch on, with trees and buildings dazzlingly illuminated as Pleasureland prepares to unveil its Winter Wonderland North.

The big switch on will herald a Christmas countdown for the North with the attraction open every weekend in December (excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and featuring a German-style Christmas market, reindeer, and indoor winter train ride and, who else but Father Christmas in his very own grotto.  And with long-range weather forecasters predicting a cold snap for December, the glitter, glühwein and goodwill is likely to go a long way towards adding some Christmas cheer to 2020.

So far over 70 local retailers, restaurants, cafes, bars and leisure venues have signed up to accept the brand-new Southport Gift Card, with more added each week. The card is ready to be spent in high street favourites such as M&S, The Entertainer, Flannels and Sports Direct plus dozens of popular independent favourites such as Volare, Reputation, Tap & Bottles and The Cheshire Lines.

Southport BID has launched the initiative in order to encourage more people to spend money locally and help businesses recover from the coronavirus lockdown.

The new scheme works exactly like any other shop gift card scheme. The purchaser can pre-load from £10 up to £200 on a card that they give as a present to colleagues, friends or family members. The card can then be spent just like any other debit card and they can purchase from any venue accepting it and spread their spend across as many venues as they wish.
