Southport Hesketh Round Table would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that came out to see their Santa float in December and everyone that donated to the charity.
Round Table Vice Chairman Marc Foreman estimates that they have raised over £5,000 in donations.
He said: “We are very pleased and humbled with the atmosphere that the Santa float brought to the thousands of families of Southport in December. Especially within the tier system restrictions we managed to do all of our usual routes as well as the new Kew Estate route that we will hope to do every year going forward.
“It’s amazing what a group of guys can do in a short space of time. This year was also a first for a float-route sponsor, with ACF Tax, Churchtown sponsoring the Kew Route night.
“We are now looking at sponsors for this year’s float routes, so if any local businesses would like social media advertising / sponsorship and a ‘shout-out from Santa’ to contact us on our Facebook page.
“We have a long list of people to thank, like Massams for the Christmas Tree, Formby Car Electrical for the battery power for lighting, Victoria Park / Flower Show for the use of the barn to build the float and dismantle it afterwards, DPI Signage for producing the new test donations signs, Barlows Trailers for the float trailer and a huge thanks goes to Chris & Sue Shaw for pulling the float with their bright truck every night in December.”
With some of the donation charity money raised the charity set up a Families in Need initiative for families that were struggling to get a Christmas Dinner or children’s presents this year.
Chris Green, Charity Treasurer estimated that the Charity spent £2,000 for the ingredients of a Christmas dinner with Christmas presents and games for 37 families in the local area.
Chris said: “It was a great feeling to be able to assist in giving families a piece of the Christmas magic and we’ll look at increasing this for 2021. Having the SG Financial Services offices to operate from meant that it looked like Santa’s grotto, smelt like a sprout farm, but was a small price to pay to see the excited smiles on all of those families and children.”
