Southport-based Isothermal Technology Ltd, known internationally as Isotech, has acquired specialist design company Metrosol Limited, bringing a 20-year partnership fully in-house and further strengthening its long-term future in the town.
From the design and production of precision temperature measurement instruments to the delivery of calibration services, Isotech employs around 55 people in Southport, many of them long-standing members of the team.
Accurate temperature measurement plays a vital role across industry, science and healthcare, supporting safety, product quality, energy efficiency and high-precision research.
Isotech’s instruments and services are used where reliable temperature measurement matters most.
Metrosol was founded by Paul Bramley and has been responsible for the design of some of Isotech’s best-known instruments, including the microK, milliK and microK².
It also became a world pioneer in Johnson Noise Thermometry, one of the most promising and technically demanding areas in precision thermometry. Metrosol developed the world’s first practical Johnson Noise Thermometer, helping move the technique from theory into real-world use.
The acquisition secures this specialist expertise within Isotech and strengthens Southport’s place in a highly technical field with international reach. Paul Bramley will continue to lead design activity as part of the Isotech team.
Paul Bramley said:
“I am very pleased to see Metrosol become part of Isotech. The transition provides long-term security for my team, and it allows me to concentrate on instrument design, which has always been the thing that has interested me the most.”
Fay Tavener, of Isothermal Technology Ltd, said:
“This is a natural next step after twenty years of close collaboration. Bringing Metrosol into Isotech helps secure the future of the business, strengthens our technical capability, and creates a strong foundation for further growth and new jobs in Southport.”
