Southport Learning Trust is proud to once again partner with the #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign as part of an exciting week of activity leading up to the London Marathon, bringing together pupils, staff and communities across the region.
Taking place during the week commencing 20th April 2026, the initiative will see a wide range of fundraising and awareness events designed to promote positive action, teamwork, and first aid education.
Throughout the week, each school within the Trust will host its own London Mini Marathon, encouraging participation from all year groups and giving every pupil the opportunity to get involved, be active, and support an important cause.
On Wednesday 22nd April 2026, over 200 pupils, alongside teachers from across the Trust, will take part in a school-to-school relay, covering over 29 miles.
The route will begin at Bedford Primary School in Bootle, travel through Maghull, and finish at Kew Woods Primary School in Southport.
This powerful show of unity will see students and staff working together across communities, highlighting the strength of collaboration and shared purpose.
The momentum continues on Saturday 25th April 2026, when 60 students from the Trust will take part in the Mini London Marathon, a televised event held on The Mall in London.
This is an incredible opportunity for young people to be part of a national event while representing their schools, local communities and Merseyside, while spreading a positive message.
On Sunday 26th April 2026, four teachers from Southport Learning Trust will take on the London Marathon, demonstrating to their students and wider community what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork, and determination.
Together, students and staff are raising funds to continue their positive anti-knife crime work across their schools. This includes funding Mini Medics first aid sessions in each school, ensuring that pupils are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond in emergency situations.
This partnership with #kNOwKnifeCrime continues to make a meaningful difference, empowering young people with education, awareness, and the opportunity to take positive action within their communities.
Ian Raikes, CEO of Southport Learning Trust, said:
“We are delighted to be working in a strong and sustainable partnership with #kNOwKnifeCrime aimed at ensuring we embody our Trust vision of empowering our community to have a positive impact on the world by educating our pupils to make safe choices and be able to help others and potentially save lives.
“The London Marathon and the run up to it has become such an important part of highlighting how running can support wellbeing as a Trust we are pleased that our pupils running in the Mini London Marathon will be such important ambassadors for the #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign. ”
