A loving Southport woman has been inspired by her late father to raise thousands of pounds for charity in his memory.

Rosie Cleave, an insurance broker and influencer, has thanked people for their support after she secured £1,100 for the Merseyside Motor Neurone Disease Association in honour of her Dad, Howard Cleave.

The “incredible family man” died from the disease aged 69 years old just a few weeks ago.

Rosie teamed up with friend Amanda Borg to organise a Christmas Makeup Masterclass Fundraiser at The Southport Coaster pub on Lord Street in Southport town centre.

She also raised a further £2,000 for the MND Association through a recent sponsored silence, taking the total to over £3,100.

Rosie wanted to do something positive after being left distraught that “the most important man of my life is no longer a phone call away”.

Many people will recognise Rosie from her part-time role as a food and lifestyle influencer, with thousands of followers on her rosiefeasts Instagram page

She organised the event alongside close friend Amanda Borg, one of the top makeup artists in the UK, to organise the unique festive fundraiser.

It was hosted by radio personality Claire Simmo, with images by Banak Photography and video via Avorio Productions.

Guests enjoyed a glass of Prosecco on arrival; a free goody bag worth over £25 including a pair of Prima Lashes; a Makeup Masterclass from Amanda Borg MUA; food and entertainment; and the chance to win some great prizes, courtesy of over 30 local businesses, through a raffle draw.

Rosie said: “It is so daunting planning a big event like this!

“In the end, it went so well. I am very grateful for the support from everyone who came, everyone who bought raffle tickets, and to all the local businesses which so kindly donated prizes to make our fundraising so successful.

“I was also really impressed by the team at the Southport Coaster. They really went over and above to do everything they could to support us.

“It was the perfect venue for us to hold this event.

“We had great feedback from everyone who came, they really enjoyed it.

“Our guests took away a lot of great tips about makeup, both about the best products to source, and the best way to apply it.

“Our singer, Sophie Clarke, sang beautifully, including a few songs that meant a lot to me.

“My sister, Victoria Cleave, came from Norwich to be there and it was very special.

“I did my sponsored silence just before Dad died. He was so proud.

“MND affects people in different ways. Some people lose their speech first. My Dad didn’t. He would love to talk about politics, about medicine, we just loved talking together. The rest of his body was sadly giving up but his speech was fine apart from the minimal lung capacity. People experience different symptoms at different stages of MND.

“I am delighted by the amount of money raised, which will go towards the Merseyside MND Association.

“It’s a fantastic local charity which urgently needs more volunteers, more funds and more fundraising events to enable them to continue the fantastic work they are doing to support local families who are having to contend with Motor Neurone Disease.

“There are quite a lot of families in Merseyside who are affected by MND.”

Rosie also raised £2,000 for the MND Association through a sponsored silence she completed a few weeks ago, which was something of a challenge.

Rosie said: “It was quite difficult not to be able to communicate for a whole weekend, but it went well and I was very pleased to be able to raise £2,000 for charity.

“My husband enjoyed the silence!”

Rosie moved to Southport in 2019 from London.

Her rosiefeasts lifestyle influencer account sees her cover food, fitness, facials and staycations predominantly in locations including Southport, Liverpool and Manchester.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association supports everyone living with and affected by MND to access the help and support they need.

Whether you want to speak to the charity over the phone, connect with others affected by MND or find local support, you can discover different ways of finding help.

The organisation funds research, improves care and provides support for people with MND, their families and carers.
