December starts this weekend as the countdown to Christmas begins – and there are lots of great festive things for families to enjoy in Southport!
There is loads going on including Santa’s Grotto at Wayfarers Arcade, the Southport Charity Truck Parade, Birkdale Christmas Fayre, Breakfast with Elsa and more.
Here are some of the events you can enjoy in Southport this weekend:
1 – Santa’s Grotto
Come and see Father Christmas at Santa’s Grotto at Wayfarers Shopping Arcade in Southport 10am – 4pm this Saturday (30th November 2024) and Sunday (1st December 2024).
No bookings are required, with families welcome to call in.
Santa will be surrounded by the North pole’s cheekiest elves and will be joined by Mother Christmas.
There is more fun to be had inside Wayfarers Shopping Arcade too, with shoppers able to pick up some great Christmas gifts with the Memory Lane Craft & Gift Fair taking place inside the arcade this Saturday and Sunday too.
At Santa’s Grotto, for £10 per child, your little ones will receive a premium gift and memories to treasure forever.
2 – Afternoon Tea with Elsa from Frozen
At The Bold on Lord Street, Saturday 30th November 2024, 12pm-2pm.
£15 kids £17.50 adults.
Afternoon Tea With Elsa will return on 7th December 2024.

3 – Southport Santa Sprint
11am this Sunday, 1st December 2024.
Hundreds of Santas will run through Southport in the annual Southport Santa Sprint sponsored by Silcock Leisure Group for Queenscourt Hospice.
Complimentary Tea or Coffee at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant, The Promenade, Southport
Complimentary Coffee & Cake at The Grand, Lord Street, Southport
The event has raised over £115,000 since its inception and is a full family affair – even your pet dog can take part!
There will be both a 3K and 5K route for you to walk, jog or run. The route, which starts and finishes at Silcock’s Funland, is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and buggies.

4 – Southport Charity Truck parade
Don’t miss the Southport Charity Truck Parade this Sunday (1st December 2024).
Organisers have a very big special guest who’s going to be DJing on their trailer with the mascots while giving everybody a wave.
Billie Clements will also be live on her TikTok so everyone can see where they are.
The parade leaves Warren Farm in Formby at 4pm before heading down: Southport Old Road; Liverpool Road; Ainsdale Village; Liverpool Road; Waterloo Road; Hillside Village; Waterloo Road; Lulworth Road; Lord Street; Left at The Fire Station; Leicester Street; ready for The Promenade Extravaganza; both sides of the Promenade; Matalan car park to show the public their vehicles.
5 – Birkdale Christmas Fayre
Birkdale Village in Southport is inviting families to enjoy its annual Christmas Fayre this Sunday (1st December 2024).
The popular festive event, organised by Birkdale Civic Society, will take place between midday and 6pm.
Enjoy live entertainment and performances guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit.
You can discover festive gifts at the Christmas Market on Weld Parade.
A special surprise will be revealed through a uniquely hand-knitted Father Christmas, lovingly crafted by the Southport Hookers.
Families will gather for the Grand Finale at 5pm, gathering around for the Christmas Tree Light Switch On.
6 – Botanic Gardens Christmas Fete
11am-4pm this Sunday, 1st December 2024, Botanic Gardens, Churchtown, Southport.
Please come down and join the Botanic Gardens Community Association volunteers to meet Santa this year.
The fernery is a magical place to see all year round, but it’s even more special at Christmas.
No booking necessary.
£3 per child.
Other activities and festive treats to be had including face painting and festive stalls.
