People are being urged to support a Christmas Raffle, which has been launched to raise money for the RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch.
Cecilia Duff, who works for the NHS at Southport Hospital, is one of the volunteers at the Animal Centre, on New Cut Lane.
The proud owner of her own rescue cat ‘Poppadum’, she has worked hard to pull together a superb list of raffle prizes and is encouraging people to buy tickets.
Cecilia said: “I have put my heart and soul over the past three to four months into collecting over 100 raffle prizes with some amazing donations from a number of North West businesses, for which we are forever grateful.
“Southport MP Mr Damien Moore is also, once again, urging people to support the appeal.”
Prizes include: a signed Tommy Fleetwood golf shirt; a Gold Boutique bespoke dragonfly necklace; an RSPCA luxury cat hamper; a Hamdah (London) chocolate candle; ladies cosmetics; 24-bottle boxes of Cobra beer; a Magnum bottle of Prosecco; gold earrings; and many more.
Prizes have been kindly donated by a number of firms including: Asda, Booths, Boots, Bulldog Products, Chapter Brewery, Chester Zoo, Co-Op, Dunelm, Gusto Trattoria, Gymophobics, Kalash Divina Indian, Kew Takeaway, Knowsley Safari Park, Martin Mere, Morrisons, Mossock Hall Golf Club, Portland Hall Spa, Puzzology, Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Sainsburys, Southport Flower Show, Tesco, Tommy Fleetwood, The Atkinson, The Entertainer, The Fryery Fish and Chips, Waterfields and Waterstones.
Cecilia even acquired donations from two Dragons’ Den entrepreneurs!
She said: “We had a very successful Summer Raffle, raising an incredible £2,660 for our Animal Centre. I believe the coverage which was published on Stand Up For Southport and through Southport BID helped us to reach this figure.”
People can buy raffle tickets by phoning Southport RSPCA on 01704 567624. Raffle tickets cost just £1 each. The draw will take place on Saturday, 11th December at Lord St West United Church.
The RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch near Southport is completely reliant upon donations, legacies and monies raised through its RSPCA Charity Shop on Eastbank Street in Southport Town centre, together with the public’s generous support of its locally-run fundraising events.
Its Animal Centre, located in New Cut Lane, on the Birkdale-Halsall border, covers Southport, Ormskirk and the surrounding areas as far south as Maghull.
The Centre takes in, cares for, supports and helps rehabilitate needy animals whilst new homes are found for them.
