People are invited to cheer on the fourth annual Susan Baker Memorial Ride when it takes place this Bank Holiday Sunday (25th August 2024).
The fantastic fundraiser has raised an incredible £22,320.50 for charity since it has been running.
This year proceeds will go towards Cash for Kids to support their campaign with local schools and knife crime in Southport following the horrific tragedy at The Hart Space on 29th July in which three young girls were killed with several children and adults severely injured.
Some of the money raised will also go to Queenscourt Hospice to help their good deeds and efforts with palliative care.
Organisers have set an ambitious target to try and raise £10,000 this year.
The ride will set off from Long Lane in Banks at midday this Sunday (25th August 2024).
You can then cheer them on at:

Event organisers Jacqueline Barlow and Amanda Fox said: “We started our ride in 2021 in the name of Susan Baker, a local equestrian and mother of Amanda Fox, the owner of Stoneyacre Equestrian at Foxwood Stables in Long Lane, Banks. This is where the ride starts and finishes.
“We have raised £22320.50 over the last three years benefitting Cash for Kids, Queenscourt Hospice and North West Air Ambulance.
“This year’s charities are Queenscourt and Cash for Kids again.
“Cash For Kids are going to add some of our donation to their Southport Schools and Southport knife crime following the tragedy of recent events in the names of Alice, Elsie Dot and Bebe.
“We send our condolences to all the families and children affected.”
The first Susan Baker Memorial Ride in 2021 raised £5,000 for Queenscourt Hospice, where Susan Baker received superb end of life care from the team at the facility on Town Lane in Southport.
Susan Baker’s daughter, Amanda Fox, described her Mum as “my rock, my inspiration, my mentor, my Mum”.
Susan Baker died on Mother’s Day 2018 aged 71 from Multiple Sclerosis.
Her daughter Amanda said that “My mum was one of the lucky ones, who received outstanding care from Queenscourt for her last days. Many people don’t get this opportunity, as palliative care in this country is not available to us all.”
