Three shows have now sold out at the 2024 Southport Comedy Festival, with the event on track to be the most well attended of all time.
Tickets for Elton John, Jason Manford and Henning Wehn have quickly been snapped up with others close to full capacity too.
The 13th annual Southport Comedy Festival sponsored by Halliwell Jones MINI takes place inside a luxury heated and seated marquee at Victoria Park in Southport from Friday, 27th September 2024 through to Sunday, 13th October 2024 with some of the biggest names in stand up comedy.
Audiences can also spot emerging talent in the Southport New Comedi Of The Year competition, while there are two fundraising Comedy Bingo and Disco Bingo nights to support local charities.
Last year over 6,000 comedy lovers came to enjoy the 17-night festival giving a huge boost to local businesses including hotels, guest houses, restaurants, bars and more.
Southport Comedy Festival Director Brendan Riley said: “It’s a very good sign to have three sold out shows! We are really pleased with how well ticket sales are doing this year.
“Ben Elton, Jason Manford and Henning Wehn are three of the best comedians on the circuit and the interest in seeing them in Southport has been huge.

“Some of our other shows are nearing capacity as well – our festival favourites such as Jason Byrne and Jimeoin are proving to be very popular, lots of people are eager to see comedy legend Mick Miller, and other gigs are doing very well too.
“Once these tickets have gone, they have gone, so please don’t miss out if there’s someone you’re really keen to see this year. Please don’t leave it until the last minute!
“As ever, we have done all we can to keep our ticket prices as affordable as possible, with tickets for our Southport New Comedian Of The Year event starting at just a fiver each, as we love seeing audiences coming out to enjoy live comedy.
“Because this is now our fourth year of hosting Southport Comedy Festival in a large marquee on Victoria Park, rather than at venues throughout Southport, people know what to expect from the set-up now – and they love it.

“We used to get loads of questions from visitors when we first started: Is it heated? Are there seats? Is it big? Can we get drinks? Are there toilets? Is it accessible?
“We are delighted to be working with partners including Elite Marquees, Elite Bars, Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park Events and others to stage an event in a huge, luxury marquee which is well heated, carpeted, with chairs, bars, a food outlet, and everything you need for a great night out.

The star studded line-up includes the undisputed godfather of modern stand-Up Ben Elton, TV superstar Jason Manford, German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn, American Comedy Legend Rich Hall, Festival favourites Jason Byrne and Jimeoin, Political Comedian Mark Thomas, Star of ITV’S The Chase Paul Sinha ‘The Sinnerman’, comedy stars of TV Jo Caulfield, Hal Cruttenden, Ria Lina, Patrick Monahan, Comedy Circuit favourites The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Review, Rising local star Katie Tracey, host of smash hit podcast ‘Have a Word’, Dan Nightingale and one of the UKs most treasured entertainers Mick Miller.

Some shows have already sold out and others are selling fast so make sure to grab your tickets for the shows you want to see while they are still available!
The festival is also supporting the stars of tomorrow with the return of the Southport New Comedian of the Year Competition, sponsored for a third year by Dragon Soop.
The event will once again be ‘raising money while raising a smile’ with two special charity Bingo events planned for local charities Southport Flower Show and Community Link Foundation, this event is sponsored by Anthony James Estate Agents for a second year.
