Car parking increases in Southport and across Sefton can today be revealed.
The “inflationary increase” is felt to be justifiable by Sefton Council as charges have not been changed for the past few years.
They include on-street parking covered by pay and display machines, and council-operated car parks.
Parking charges at the Central 12 retail park on Derby Road in Southport will not be increased.
The rises will net an additional £125,000 for the council in 2023/24.
The rate of CPI for November is traditionally used in consideration of any increases to fees and charges and for 2022 this was 10.7%. The fees and charges shown below have generally been increased by 10.7% with some rounding-up or rounding-down to ensure ease of payment and processing.

The charges have been raised after Sefton Council voted on making a series of savings and cost increases at their meeting in February.
A report by Sefton Council Executive Director of Corporate Resources and Customer Services Stephan Van Arendsen said: “This proposal is to increase car parking fees and charges to take into account current increases in inflation.
“Parking charges have not been increased for several years. Future demand levels have been factored into this net saving.”
Rising inflation, rocketing energy prices and increasing wages are having a multi-million pound impact on Sefton’s Budget this year.
Council officers estimate that Sefton is facing a funding shortfall of £33.996 million between 2023/24 and 2025/26.
