Southport FC went goal crazy in Leyland last night banging nine goals in against Ashton Athletic without reply to progress to the Lancashire Challenge Trophy Final.

A new Non League record high score in any competitive game and the first time a Southport FC player has scored five goals in a game in the Non League era.

It was all fairly even for 30 minutes but once the first goal went in the floodgates opened and it was one way traffic after that,

The goalscorers were:

Niall Watson on 30, 32, 66, 75 & 77 minutes, Own Goal (although Niall is claiming it) 40 minutes, Josh Hmami 44, Connor Heath 57 and Charlie Munro 84 minutes. The club will get official confirmation on the OG in due course.

Brad Wade made his debut in goal for the club.
